Enoch, Utah is an agricultural city in Iron County, approximately seven miles northeast of Cedar City. Enoch was settled as part of a Mormon iron mission along with Parowan and Cedar City. It was originally called Fort Johnson and Johnson Spring after the first white settler who arrived with his family in 1851. The name changed to Enoch in 1890 to avoid confusion with another Utah community that shared the name, Johnson Springs. In 1956 it was officially settled as Enoch after the Mormon United Order. It was incorporated in 1966, at which time it absorbed the communities of Grimshawville, Williamsville, and Stevensville. Today some 6,600 people call this rural community home.
A popular place for adventure and outdoor experiences is the Three Peaks Recreational Area. Here you’ll find volcanic rock formations and rolling hills that are used for several four-by-four rock crawling competitions throughout the year. There are also many trails that are perfect for mountain biking both over large rock formations and the desert terrain. You’ll also be able to enjoy exploring by horse the many sites along the red rocks. Being near Cedar City gives Enoch easy access to winter sports like skiing and snowmobiling. During the warmer weather additional hiking trails, and biking trails, as well as climbing spots can be found. There are also other great resorts in the area as well as a variety of shopping and eateries within proximity of Enoch.
The Enoch real estate options include mostly ranch-style single-family homes, cottages, and condos. As a rural, agricultural community, there is also land available in Enoch. Enoch is not a large community, but its location makes it an ideal place to enjoy both the rural lifestyle and the convenient access to fabulous amenities and attractions.
