Ivins, Utah is located in Washington County. The town became a city in 1998. Before the Mormons showed up here, the area was inhabited by the Paiute people, and today a Paiute reservation lies west of Ivins. The Ivins settlement was first known as Santa Clara Bench. It was the dream of several men to bring water to the area, and they began the undertaking to build an eight-mile canal. Construction of the canal began in 1911 and was completed in 1914. A reservoir was completed in 1918, and in 1922 the first people settled in the new town site. Residents made the decision to rename the town, naming it for a Mormon apostle, Anthony Ivins. Today there are approximately 7,700 people who live in Ivins.
Among its many benefits, Ivins has numerous parks in which residents and visitors can enjoy outdoor activities. For those who enjoy natural art, the Kayenta Desert Community, which is a part of Ivins, features the Coyote Gulch Art Village. Here you will find a labyrinth that was made from the Desert Rose, which is small stones. In the Desert Rose Labyrinth, you’ll discover Anasazi Tribe petroglyphs. Adding to the allure, two major spas are also located in Ivins, the Biggest Loser Resort and the Red Mountain Resort.
